UK REACH Ink Ingredient Checker
A supplier-audit framework for UK tattoo artists preparing their UK REACH compliance file, not a brand-verification database.
Where the law sits, May 2026
The UK REACH tattoo-ink restriction was adopted by Defra on 30 December 2025. The operative Annex 17 substance list and the 19-pigment derogation sit in Defra documents that are not yet fully publicly retrievable. Use the supplier audit framework below to build your own compliance evidence file.
Before you publish your compliance file
- Verify your UK REACH compliance statement names the exact product, batch, or formulation. A generic 'REACH compliant' statement is not enough.
- Obtain a substance-level Certificate of Analysis or equivalent lab report mapped to the UK tattoo-ink restriction parameters.
- Confirm the GB importer or responsible economic operator. Post-Brexit, an EU responsible person does NOT automatically cover GB market obligations.
- Classify each product: standard tattoo ink, PMU-only pigment, or consumer cosmetic product. CPNP notification duty depends on this classification.
- Confirm transition-stock status, the last lawful placing-on-market date, and whether the supplier relies on a professional-user use-up period.
